Eid-ul-Adha 2024

Eid-ul-Adha 2024 is One of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar, is also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.” Allah Almighty graciously allows Muslims to experience joy twice a year; first with Eid-ul-Fitr, and then with Eid-ul-Adha. Both Eids provide opportunities to cheer and celebrate our happiness. Indeed, Islam is a complete code of life, encompassing guidance for all aspects of existence. Significantly, Eid-ul-Adha occurs after the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, specifically on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival includes special prayers, feasts, and the sacrificial offering of animals. Consequently, this celebration not only marks a profound religious observance but also fosters a sense of community and shared devotion among Muslims worldwide.

The Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S)

Muslims remember the sacrifice given by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Allah Ta’ala gave him the order to murder his son, Prophet Ismael AS. After he gave him the order, he showed him where the slaughterhouse was. But the All-Powerful Allah replaced His son with a sheep. It was a great blessing from Allah to accept Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice without having his son slain. Muslims commemorate the occasion by presenting a precise translation of Eid-ul-Adha as “Festival of Sacrifice.” On Eid ul Adha, a variety of cattle are sacrificed on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha 2024.

Sunnah of Eid-ul-Adha

First, make ghusl (take a shower or a bath). Next, eat breakfast; the Prophet (SAW) ate dates before going out to prayer. Afterward, wear the best clothes you have. Additionally, apply fragrance. Moreover, take a different path on the way back after walking to the mosque for Eid prayers. Then, say the Eid prayer as a gathering. Finally, exchange gifts.

On the Day of Eid-ul-Adha 2024

Eid-ul-Adha 2024  morning, all Muslims assemble in their local mosques or open spaces to recite the Eid prayer. It’s called Salat al-Eid. This congregational prayer consists of two raqats. It also has several extra Takbirs (repeated affirmations of Allah’s grandeur and power). Moving to mosques to conduct Eid prayers at the designated hour fosters dedication to Allah’s command and humility. Following Eid prayers, Muslims exchange warm and heartfelt greetings of ‘Eid Mubarak’.

Instruction for Qurbani

On the testimony of Hazrat Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her, Umm al-Momineen related the following account of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “If any of you plans to offer a sacrifice during the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, he should not cut any part of his skin, hair, or nails until the sacrifice is given. Tradition also makes it quite clear that as soon as Dhul-Hijjah’s moon rises, it must be prevented from doing these actions.

Juristic Rulings

Because of these hadiths, jurists have ruled that this act is mustahab. They have declared that from the start of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, until the sacrificial animal is slaughtered, hair from any part of the body is mustahab. Additionally, they have advised against cleaning their nails or cutting their skin excessively, and this advice is only for those who intend to sacrifice.

Opinions of Akbars

However, other Akbars argue that in order to respect the example of those who do, even those who choose not to make sacrifices should do so. In addition, they ought to trim their nails, hair, and other hair in honor of the sacrifices made by regular people. It’s also crucial to keep in mind that cleansing is necessary if the pubic hair and nails have grown for more than forty days.

Takbeer and Dua

Allahum َّمْنْكَ وَلَكَ” then he should say “Bismillah Allahu Akbar” before slaughtering, and if he can recall, he should perform the following dua after slaughtering:

“اَللّٰهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْهُ مِنِّيْ كَمَا تَقَبَّلْتَ مِنْ حَبِيْبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ خَلِيْلِكَ إبْرَاهِيْمَ عليهما السلام”.

If you are slaughtering someone else, put “MIN” after that person’s name instead of “MINI”. God alone is aware.

Method of Qurbani

The proper technique for killing an animal is to use a sharp knife to cut the animal’s neck completely apart, then scream “Bismillah, wa Allahu Akbar” after facing the Qibla.

Avoiding Inappropriate Methods

It is not appropriate to carry it out or cut it to the haram brain; instead, “Halqum” and all other procedures should be used in addition to cutting the respiratory system and the “Udaj” blood arteries on its sides. This will prevent the animal from experiencing pain and allow all of the impure blood to be expelled. Not all of the blood is seen, and the animal endures needless suffering. To make using the knife with the right hand easier, it is best to lie the animal on its left crotch with Qibla facing (that is, the head side of the animal is in the south and the tail side is in the north in our nation).

In the lights of hadees

Eid-ul-2024 Time to Perform Qurbani

Optimal time to recite Qurbani is on the first day of Eid, immediately following Eid al-Adha’s prayer, which falls on the dates (10,11,12) of Dhul Hijjah. Be mindful that sacrifices performed before the Eid prayer are not considered Qurbani. Please do not rush the sacrifice process and wait for its appointed time.

As previously noted, whoever is responsible for slaughtering the animal must follow these specific rules:

No animal should ever witness the sacrifice of another animal.

There should be no animal present while a death knife is sharpened.

A dull knife should never be used to kill an animal.

It is not advisable to skin animals until they have cooled.

It is appropriate to recite “Bismillahi Allahu Akbar” when carrying out the murderous deed.
